Don't throw it away
Speaking of Use it Up...Wear it Out, these Mendets could be used to patch a pot. They are worthless today, at least collectors aren't interested in them, but they are helpful if you are trying to understand your parents or grandparents.
1944 Washington Works to Prevent Inflation

In 1944, Washington's efforts to help the economy were focused on inflation prevention. The Office of War Information created a public service advertisement explaining why it was better to save your money than to go out and buy things. "Use it up...Wear it out...Make it do...Or do without" was the catchy slogan. Goods were scarce. Today there is a different problem. Cast Iron Floor Register
We live in an old house. Before the 1960s, there were two wood stoves on the first floor that heated the whole house. Each had a stove pipe that passed through a second story bedroom and continued up through the roof. Those stove pipes heated the second story.
We sell antique cast iron floor registers to other old house dwellers. Floor registers control the flow of warm air from a duct system or just from one story to the next. Most can be opened or closed like the vents in your car.
